Who is Jesus?
As Christians, we are called to follow the true example of Jesus Christ.
We often miss the depth of Jesus’ message. He is not just a religious icon, but the answer to life’s deepest questions.
When the first human beings —Adam and Eve— disobeyed the Lord, sin entered the world forever and they couldn’t perfectly continue their relationship with God anymore as He is a perfect and holy God who abhors sin. The wage of sin is death and the only way that relationship could be restored was through someone dying who was sinless — Jesus!
Jesus arrived on this mortal world with a mission — to reveal who God is, to demonstrate His reign and reconcile all things to Himself.
Fulfilling the many ancient Messianic prophecies, Jesus was born as a Jew to the virgin Mary, conceived free of heritable sin. After a 3 ½ years of public ministry of preaching and performing miracles, Jesus was arrested by the Jewish leaders and was handed over to the Romans, who sentenced Him to be crucified on a Roman cross. He died a gruesome yet gritty death, was buried in the ground, and then on the third day, rose again from the grave, victorious over Satan, sin, and death itself!
In living, dying and rising again, Jesus made a way of salvation for all who believe. His crucifixion paid the punishment that we deserved for the way we have treated God. He died so that we don’t have to, and He rose so that we would see new life!
Jesus offers ETERNAL LIFE, ABUNDANT JOY, the GIFT of the HOLY SPIRIT and RECONCILIATION with GOD to anyone who would entrust themselves to Him!
Those who believe in Jesus are freed from sin, guilt, and shame. They’re invited into God’s family, freely given a living hope and inheritance that will never perish, spoil or fade. They’re commissioned to continue His mission throughout the world, telling others about Jesus and inviting them to follow Him, for it is only right to share the immense joy and deliverance we received so that others can experience the same!
The day that Jesus will return is coming soon! The Bible tells us that on that day, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that He is the Lord. But for now, He wants us to live for Him, to declare the praises of His glory through our works and words.
FOLLOWING JESUS
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
(John 8:12, NKJV)
We couldn’t be more excited to welcome you to the family of God and to our QTC family! Our prayer is that you would know Jesus in a personal and powerful way and that you would experience the fresh, real, and powerful life of a follower of Jesus!
There are no secret or complicated steps to following Jesus – below is a simple prayer you can pray right now if you want to invite Him into your life.
“Dear Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my heart to You and ask You to come in as my Saviour and Master. Take control of my life. Thank You for loving me so much when I’m not worthy. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be and let Your will be done in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
WHAT’S NEXT?
Our Pastor would love to talk to you about your decision, so send us a request through this form, and we will be in touch with you!
In the meantime, talk to God every day just like how you would with your loved ones. Read the Bible daily (I want a Bible), that’s how the Lord communicates with you. We encourage you to start from the New Testament if you’re new to reading the Bible.
God will bless you and continue to guide you as you begin your new journey of following Jesus!
NEXT STEPS
Congratulations on making one of the best decisions of your life!
It’s an exciting life-long journey of becoming more like Jesus one step at a time. At QTC, we believe this means we connect, we grow, and we serve. As we mature; we connect deeper, we grow stronger, and we serve wider. We never stop connecting, growing and serving!
Water Baptism
We follow the example of Jesus through being baptised in water.
Baptism is a personal decision! The Bible tells us that once we decide to follow Jesus Christ, we ought to get baptised. We do this in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself, being the Son of God, showed us the significance of water baptism in Luke 3: 2. Baptism is an important and personal display of faith for Christians. It is a public testimony of your commitment to following Jesus.
What does baptism mean?
- Baptism is an outward confession of an inward decision.
- Baptism is a command (Matthew 28: 19). Everyone who confesses Christ should be baptised.
- Baptism comes from the word “baptise”, which means to immerse.
- Baptism represents dying to our old way of life and mindset, a former life of sin, being made clean, resurrected and born again to a new life in Christ.
- Baptism is not a prerequisite to salvation (Ephesians 2: 8-9 & Romans 10: 9).
- Baptism doesn’t get you to heaven – it announces to your friends you are headed to heaven. While baptism is an important command and act of obedience for believers, it does not save a person; faith in Christ is what leads to salvation (John 14: 6).
Why Get Baptised?
- I understand what Jesus did on the Cross for me.
- I understand that Jesus was baptised, and He is my example.
- I identify with the death and resurrection of Jesus.
